Percussive Arts Class

This course is led by Mr. Jay Chipman, with support from Mr. Tedder, and is designed to enhance the musical development of percussion students beyond the traditional band setting. Students will rehearse and perform collaboratively, focusing on music reading, musicality, terminology, music history, and theory. The curriculum includes repertoire performed both with the full band and independently as a percussion ensemble. Students will also be expected to prepare short solos on various percussion instruments, commonly referred to as “pass-offs.”
The first semester emphasizes marching band performance, while the remainder of the year shifts focus to concert literature and the competitive indoor percussion ensemble. It is important to note that students enrolled in this course are active members of the Bryant High School Band Program. |

Indoor Percussion and AMAA
|
The Bryant High School Indoor Percussion ensemble is a member of the Arkansas Marching Arts Association (AMAA) and performs regularly within this circuit.
Being a member of the Indoor Percussion performing ensemble is optional and selected from students in the Percussive Arts Class and various other ensembles. |
